Z is for Zoo

Every day until Christmas I will have a brand new shiny post for all to read. It's my Christmas gift to cyber-world and anyone who may read the ramblings of our little life. The theme is toddler style-an alphabet count down until the big day. Get excited.

Gianna by herself on the Gorilla.
Anyway, back to the important business of the Zoo. Sometimes I take both kids to the zoo by myself. It's usually for like 30 minutes or less. I mentally prepare myself to see approximately 2 animals, that way if I see more I am pleasantly surprised.

Thankfully on our trip to the zoo yesterday, we were accompanied by grandparents and an Uncle Eddie (every little girl needs an Uncle Eddie by the way.) I saw things I had never seen before. I saw an entire building I didn't know was there filled with exotic birds and foreign ducks. It was amazing. I have seriously been missing out.

A little nervous when big sis attempts to steal the show.
Exciting events from the Zoo

1. A polar bear swimming and doing somersaults. Davy said he looked just like her getting her hair wet in the bath because his head was back. (I think she has a skewed self image of bath time. If he looked like her, he would have been screaming and flailing and splashing when his head was wet.)
2. Peacocks all over the place with a 2 year old chasing them.
3. 2 sad giraffes. Their 3 year old friend giraffe Akilah, just died from a heart attack after her little horns got stuck in a tree net. so sad. The one giraffe was just staring off in a daze at an empty holding area where his friend lived.
4. A pregnant monkey. And two monkeys hugging. awwww.  At least I think that's all they were doing...
5. Lions suspiciously following Davy with their eyes and saliva. freaked. me. out.

You might not be able to see from this picture, but they are all sad.
6.Why were the penguins little wings bound with plastic? Whyyy? They all looked exceedingly depressed. :( Penguins are supposed to be happy around Christmas. It's their favorite holiday.
7. Davy was excited that she has a flamingo just like the flamingos at the zoo.
8. Unfortunately for us, the train was not running until 4PM and we are lucky we made it out without a full blown tantrum by a two year old who wanted so badly to ride.
9. PS the Komodo Dragon is a dinosaur. Really it is. And I love it.
10. Elephants. Big and wrinkly. What's not to love?

Potty Mouth

This post may be disturbing if you have a weak stomach and or do not like to hear about bodily fluids in inappropriate places.

The first place is my mouth. Gianna threw up in my mouth. It's happened to me before but it is always an exciting occasion. I was holding her above my face cheerfully as she smiled and giggled. She was playing me. She made me laugh and then, WHAM, mouth full of vomit. yum.

Then we have Davy...taking her diaper off, full of #2, and then carrying it and transferring herself to the potty, where her little dirty behind sullied anything in its path. Like all over the toilet and her mini toilet seat. Then today she ran outside with her pants on and started to shed them feverishly announcing she was going to "Poop outside!"  I have no idea where this idea could have possibily entered her tiny mind except for dog watching out the window.  I will have to cross that hobby off our list of daily fun activities. She managed to get her pants off on the driveway in an angry flash and then had her diaper halfway off before I one arm grabbed her little midsection and made my way back inside one baby in each arm.

I hope she learns to put that crap in the potty. Where it belongs. Seriously. She loves the sitting and the wiping and the flushing, but she is lacking in the actual doing of the deed in the place it needs to be done.

Then there is Gianna again, with the throw up on me and the door, and the cabinet, and the floor, and the door mat that I am now donating to the garbage scavengers who frequent Madeira.

On a happy note. Gianna and I have had tons of quality bonding time lately as she has had the stomach bug. It's like our last special time of her as a little baby. Normally she doesn't really want to be held anymore and she has never been much of a snuggler so this has been a nice little treat. Albeit a treat with throw up in my mouth, but a treat nonetheless.
